This week on The Journey Ed Hassertt and I did three live broadcasts discussing the future and what a preterist church might look like. We looked at the model of the Church throughout the book of Acts and contrasted that with the situation that most preterist’s today are in.

And the reality of it is in most cases that we are all spread a lot like the first century Church was.

So we were thinking…Why not for the time being do exactly what they did? And so…Ed and I would like to get some feedback from you guys. Especially from those of you that are not able to meet within the context of a local fellowship and what your needs are so that we can start meeting them.

In other words…We want to start an Online Preterist Church and equip those of you that are spread out so that when the time comes and more people begin embracing preterism, the local fellowships will be a natural outgrowth of what we can provide now online.

And so what we need now is some feedback from you guys.

Here are a few ideas we’ve had that we would like to implement. Ed Hassertt and I would begin doing three live broadcasts per week. Two of them would be a basic verse by verse teaching through the book of Acts. The third one would be a live call in show where we would highly encourage listener interaction while discussing the other two teaching programs that week.

Ed would be available during all the other live broadcasts and other set hours for general discussion and counseling when needed by the members of this new online church body.

Ed would also be available for more individual needs like personal and marriage counseling in a private chat room, on the telephone or for video conferencing on Skype for a more face to face interaction if desired.

In other words we would like to provide you with someone much like the first century church found in the Apostle Paul, but in a much more modern setting where technology allows us to do the same things the Apostle Paul did.

This would simply be something real that we can do now until the time comes where more small fellowships can be formed where people can meet from “House to house,” on a regular basis.

We would also like to make this a resource to equip those of you around the U.S. and the world that would like to facilitate home fellowships.

Please listen to the following three broadcasts we did this week and let us know your thoughts.

Send us your feedback – feedback@ad70.net

Thanks, Michael J. Loomis

“A Reformer is one who seeks to remove abuses which have crept into an organization or community, or one who boldly enters a field where error has held undisputed sway, and fearlessly wields amid giant powers of opposition, the weapons of truth. He aims to entirely revolutionize the minds of the community in which he labors, on that particular subject where he believes reform to he needed. A compromise between truth and error is not what he seeks, and will not satisfy him…” (John Quincy Adams: Baptists – The Only Thorough Reformers)

As full-preterist’s we constantly harp on the importance of the timing statements made by Jesus throughout the New Testament. However the non-full-preterist responds by saying that Jesus Himself said that even He didn’t know when He was going to return. That only the Father did. And I think in some ways they have a good point. However Jesus did know for whatever reason the signs of the times and what things would precede the time of the end. God knew the day and the hour…However the Son of Man in all of His humanity didn’t.

Then somebody pointed something out to me the other day.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ was given by God. That same God that actually did know the day and the hour.

Simply put…The timing statements made by Jesus in his humanity and of the other writers of the new testament might rightly be called into question as to the timing of their fulfillment. However the timing statements made in the book of Revelation came directly from God Himself. Not Jesus…Not John…Not the angel, but God the Father.

Therefore, if anyone attempts to use Matthew 24:36, to suggest anything other than a first century fulfillment, I would call into question their understanding of the sovereignty of God the Father.

God the Father did know the day and the hour and it was Him that said that the time was soon, near and at hand.

Revelation 1:1-3 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.

And this is why I stand here boldly as a full-preterist. I am proud to say that God did know the day and the hour. I am proud to say that God is truly sovereign over all things and that all things were fulfilled exactly as He said they would be.

It seems to me that when you let the Bible interpret itself we find once again that the futurist doctrine of the rapture found to be a hot air balloon that has been fatally ruptured.

mellw: to be about to do, to be on the point of doing.

The following table has the highlights how mellw is commonly translated. The question I was attempting to answer is, “Do translators use the literal sense of the word mellw except when in might conflict with their eschatological views?” It appears that the answer is surprisingly yes.

Green is for literal sense. Red is for auxiliary usage of will, shall, must. Purple is for no usage found.

Notice that reds are always consistently found in passages where futurism could be hindered.
